Tech Toledo is happy to be supporting Refresh Detroit‘s Global Accessibility Awareness Day.
On May 19th, we encourage Toledoans in a variety of digital professions to head up to Grand Circus in downtown Detroit to “see” what is is like to use the web with a screen reader. Register at meetup.com: cost is only $5.
- The purpose of Global Accessibility Awareness Day is to get people talking, thinking and learning about digital (web, software, mobile, etc.) accessibility and users with different disabilities.
- Refresh Detroit is part of Refreshing Cities, the web design movement promoting usability, accessibility, and web standards.
- The Metro Detroit WordPress meetup is also hosting the event.
Financial services for meet-ups
We are supporting Refresh Detroit by helping manage the money it takes to put on a larger event like this. As many meet-ups evolve, they organize bigger events with bigger expenses and more complicated sponsorship deals. Instead of just having the sponsor pay for the pizza directly or using personal credit cards to cover expenses, they need a legal entity with a bank account.
It is hard for volunteers to keep grass roots efforts like meet-ups going: Tech Toledo is happy to help!
Why Refresh Detroit? Because they asked. And because we know their organizers, Deborah & Nick, well. Deborah is active in the southeastern Michigan UX and web communities and often joins us at events in Toledo. Nick presented at the Toledo Web Professionals meet-up 2 years ago.
A few meet-ups in the Toledo region have asked us for similar services over the years. Let us start helping you with your financial needs, too. Contact us if you want to talk about what Tech Toledo’s “Financial services for meet-ups” can do for your meet-up or other grass roots efforts.
